Rollout of Licence for Houses of Multiple Occupation?
If there are 5 or more unrelated people sharing a house with three storeys or more, it may be required to have a licence. This also includes two storey houses with a loft conversion.
The scheme has been in place for two years now and it costs landlords £1000 for the licence. In Oxford, for example, you are able to visit the council website, enter the address and view if the proerty has a licence. It has been said this may well be rolled out nationwide.
Be wise; check with your local council to avoid any £1000 fine.
