Publican Wins Gas Bill Battle

A publican in Wakefiled, Yorkshire has won a battle with British Gas over a £7,000 gas bill that he had not run up.  The publican of the Victoria in Wakefield was completely confised as to why British Gas were pursuing the claim in the first instance.

The publican, Mr Ward, had taken control of the Victoria in February 2007 and had immediately organised his gas supply with Eon.  However, British Gas began billing for gas in September 2007 to the Victoria leading to what Mr Ward believed was a simple misunderstanding.  The address on the bills was slightly different to that of the pub and British Gas has recorded in error that the property had multiple meters.

The company has admitted its error and apologised and The Victoria is no longer facing a huge gas bill it was not responsible for.
