Interest Rates on hold Again
Many analysts forecast it, but the BoE has kept interest rates on hold again as the world econmy struggles through. Many believe they wont be raised now until the end of 2012 when inflation in the UK is forecast to reduce to nearly 2% from the nearly 5% it is at now.
More and more, it is looking like the BoE may give more quantitative easing if the economy stagnates again.
It recently discussed the possibility of increasing quantitative easing beyond £200bn, in a move to get more money into the economy and businesses. This they hope would feed through to the whole economy. Many believe this would raise inflation again, but it seems this is a move many would prefer rather than more recessionary policies.
