Informed Landlords Glossary: CCJ

A County Court Judgement is used when a person/company is found by Court to owe another person/company money and has either refused to pay or cannot pay. The Court will look at all the facts and if it finds that the person/company does owe, will issue the CCJ. This will instruct payment and other items the person/company must adhere to.
A CCJ will make obtaining credit in the future very difficult. Many believe it is a sign of a person/company being dishonest and as such will not trade with them.
